This gold plated medallion was flown on Gemini XII with Astronauts Lovell and Aldrin.

The medallion comes from the personal collection of Buzz Aldrin. It was consigned for auction in the Superior Stamp & Coin Fall 1998 Space Memorabilia auction on October 31st, 1998.

This was lot number 616 in that auction. The description from the auction catalogue stated, "616. Flown Gold-Plated 25 mm Medallion. (unnumbered) in it's original plastic box and with November 11-15, 1996 (the dates of the flight) engraved on the revers. Gold medallions were traditionally carried for the astronaut's wife. There rarely come on the market. Ex- the Dr. Buzz Aldrin collection."

The medallion is in need of a good cleaning. Having rested in its Flightline case for years the foam padding of the case deteriorated. A residue was left on the front of the medallion.

This artifact was acquired by the Earth To The Moon Air & Space Museum from the Superior auction.
