This
artifact is a flown heatshield core from the Gemini XI
spacecraft. This
heatshield core was presented to Astronaut Charles Conrad upon the
completion of his Gemini XI mission.
Astronaut Conrad consigned this artifact in February 27, 1994 Space,
Sports, and Historical Autgraphs and Memorabilia Auction conducted by
Odyssey Auctions.
This was lot number 183 from that auction. The description in the
auction catalog stated, "183. Gemini XI Heat Shield Plug.
The plug
housed in a lucite space capsule mounted on a wooden base. From Pete
Conrad's personal collection."
The Earth To The Moon Air & Space Museum acquired this artifact
from the Odyssey auction. |
