| This mechanical
pencil flew with Astronaut Walt Cunningham on Apollo 7. It remained in Astronaut Cunningham's personal collection until he consigned it for auction in Odyssey Auctions Space, Sports, and Historical Autographs and Memorabilia Auction on February 27, 1994. This pencil was lot number 155 in that auction. The lot description in the auction cataolog stated: "155. Apollo VII Mechanical Pencil. The black Scripto, 5* in., carried and used by Cunningham on the Apollo VII mission. Imprinted "U.S. Government." The Earth To The Moon Air & Space Museum acquired this artifact from the Odyssey auction. Later, the Earth To The Moon Air And Space Museum obtained a type written statement that was hand signed by Astronaut Cunningham attesting to the authenticity of this artifact. |
