Command Module America Splashdown
|
This artifact is a
small swatch cut of one of the parachutes that
was flown on the Apollo 17 mission. These
parachutes slowed the Apollo 17 command module
America's descent after its reentry into the
Earth's atmosphere.
The swatch measures one half inch by one
half inch and is affixed to a white three by
five inch card.
The card is signed by Ronald Daugherty.
Mr. Daugherty was the founder and former
director of the Challenger Society.
Mr Daugherty has signed the card and states, "I authenticate
this piece of fabric to be an actual piece of
the parachute used on the Apollo 17 mission.
This is a flown piece of material."
The Earth To The Moon Air & Space Museum
acquired this artifact from an eBay auction on
June 7, 2000. |
