Charlie Duke's

Charlie Duke's
Grumman LM Model Base
|
This contractor
model of the Grumman Lunar Module belonged to
Apollo 16 moonwalker, Brigadier General Charles
Duke. This model was presented to General
Duke after the Apollo 16 mission. The base
of the model has been signed and inscribed by
General Duke with "From my collection - Charlie Duke -
Apollo 16."
The
artifact was consigned by General Duke in the
Space and Aviation Autographs and Memorabilia
Auction conducted by Odyssey Auctions on March
26th, 1995. This model was lot number 249
in that auction.
The lot description from the auction catalog
stated, "249.
Lunar Module Model. An official Grumman model,
housed on a glass base from the personal
collection of Charles Duke. Given as a
memento to commemorate his lunar mission.
Signed by Duke on the base"
The Earth To the Moon Air and Space Museum
acquired this artifact in the Odyssey auction.
Later a type written statement of authenticity
was obtained from General Duke for this
artifact. |
