This contractor model of the Grumman Lunar
Module belonged to Apollo 16
moonwalker, Brigadier General Charles Duke. This model was
presented to General Duke after the Apollo 16 mission. The base
of the model has been signed and inscribed by General Duke with "From my collection - Charlie Duke - Apollo
16."
The artifact was
consigned by General Duke in the Space and Aviation Autographs and
Memorabilia
Auction conducted by Odyssey Auctions on March
26th, 1995. This model was lot number 249 in that auction.
The lot description from the auction catalogue stated, "249. Lunar Module Model. An official
Grumman model, housed on a glass base from the personal collection of
Charles Duke. Given as a momento to commemorate his lunar
mission. Signed by Duke on the base"
The Earth To the Moon Air and Space Museum
