January 3: Manual Noriega, the deposed leader of Panama, surrenders to US forces.

January 30: The Saint Lous Rams defeat the Tenessee Titans 23 to 6 in Super Bowl XXXIV.

February 20: Nascar racing driver Dale Jarrett wins the Daytona 500.

March 26: The movie "American Beauty" wins the oscar for best picture at the Academy Awards.

April 20: NASA launches the Hubble Space Telescope on board space shuttle Discovery on mission STS-30.

February 5: An autograph show is held in Houston, Texas.  Appearing at the show were Astronauts Alan Bean, Richard Gordon, and Edgar Mitchell.  My wife Mary, my granddaughter Lexie and I attended the show. For my account of this event follow the Auto Show link.

May 28: Racing driver Juan Pablo Montoya wins the 84th running of the Indianapolis 500.

June 1: Mount Etna erupts on the Island of Sicily.

June 10: The New Jersey Devils defeat the Dallas Stars 4 games to 2 to win the Stanley Cup.

June 19: The Los Angelus Lakers defeat the Indiana Pacers 4 games to 2 to capture the NBA championship.

October 26: The New York Yankees defeat the New York Mets 4 games to 1 to win the 1991 World Series.

November 7: Republican George W. Bush defeats Al Gore in the US Presidential Election.

December 17: The Texas 7 escape from their prison unit in Kenedy, Texas, starting a mult-day crime spree.
